Pfadt Racing will be releasing a C5 Oil Cooler Kit to it’s ever expanding line C5 Corvette racing products.
Engineered for Pfadt’s own race car and proven on the track, the Pfadt Oil Cooler kit is uniquely designed to address the oil cooling needs of the C5.
The oil cooler installs in the space behind the front licence plate and uses the licence plate frame to clean up the installation. Pricing information is not yet available, but Velocity Corvette will be ready to install the new product as soon as it is made available.
The world’s largest performance driving school and national racing competition came to Reliant Park this past Saturday as car enthusiasts from all over Houston competed in this one day event. Although the weather has been unpredictable lately we were pleased to have a great day without any rain. As expected, the Corvette Clubs of Greater Houston (CCGH) were out in full force on Saturday as the VIP area was filled to capacity with all types of Corvettes. Visitors and participants alike stopped to admire the Corvettes that lined the front entrance of the event.
There were many things that visitors could see and do while waiting for their scheduled driving competition time. Activities included a Corvette Performance Course, clinics with racing/performance driving instructors, a Chevy Test Drive Course, an Enduro Kart track, a chance to ride with a professional racer in a 2007 Z06, and a display of the latest Chevy cars/trucks– including the Camaro Concept.
The highlight of Rev It Up was the driving competition, where entrants race specially prepped Chevy Cobalt SS coupes. The ultimate goal was to be the fastest driver without hitting any markers. Individual scores were then compared against the Pro Driver Index and the winner was determined by the highest score. I would like to say that our group did well but by no means did we place at the top, the competition was fierce. I will state, for the record, that I drove the Cobalt like a champ and didn’t knock one marker over. I guess driving the Karts at Track 21 did me some good.
We are proud to say that Christopher Ramey (from Houston) won the Houston event and took the lead in the national championship by a large margin. As the Houston Event Champion, Ramey was awarded a two-day “Grand Prix Specialty” course for two people at the Bondurant School of High Performance Driving and a custom Corvette-inspired “Jake” guitar by Paul Reed Smith Guitars. Christopher now goes on to compete for the grand prize, a 430-horsepower 2008 Corvette. Good luck Christopher, we know you are destined to be the National Champion.
Special thanks goes out to all of the Corvette owners and CCGH members who came out to show off their cars, as usual you were lookin’ good.
