Sales are have not improved for domestic automakers even with government help and steep discounts. Reports show that annualized US car sales slipped below 10m last month.

General Motors’ monthly sales of cars and light trucks fell by 49 per cent last month, Chrysler’s by 55 per cent and Ford Motor’s by 40 per cent, including vehicles made by Volvo, its Swedish premium brand.

The expectation is that we may be reaching the bottom soon, but I expect we still have a little ways to go before we start to see the market improve.

The online Corvette community has changed recently with the sale of CorvetteForum.com to Internet Brands. No immediate changes are planned for the Corvette forums, but based on the some of the responses the change in site ownership may mean an exodus of some members and vendors to the competing forum DigitalCorvettes.com.

FAQ’s

Q: Why did Internet Brands buy Corvetteforum.com?
Internet Brands’ mission is to empower consumers to make better decisions about buying and maintaining their most important purchases, such as cars and homes. Corvetteforum’s users offer outstanding advice and support for Corvette owners and shoppers, newbies and veterans alike, which should be a very good fit with the rest of the Internet Brands Automotive sites.

Q: Will Corvetteforum.com become part of another Internet Brand site?
A: Internet Brands plans to keep CorvetteForum.com a separate, thriving site and to continue expanding its content, community and traffic.

Q: What changes can we expect to see on Corvetteforum.com?
A: It’s hard to predict far into the future, but for the time being, Corvetteforum will remain essentially unchanged. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The main near-term addition you’ll probably notice is that Internet Brands will figure out with Troy and Jim the most logical places to put links to relevant content on other IB Automotive sites. Beyond that, Internet Brands plans to brainstorm with the admins and moderators of Corvetteforum.com about improvements that would make the site more useful.

Q: How will the acquisition help Corvetteforum.com?
A: The main benefit will be having more infrastructure and technology resources behind the site. Better servers and hardware will mean better performance for the site and admin tools. And more technology resources will mean faster bug-fixes, quicker turnaround on site changes and more frequent updates in site software, like vBulletin or photo-posting applications.

Q: Will my Corvetteforum.com log-in or password change?
A: No you will still access CorvetteForum as you always have.

With the latest aquisition, Internet Brands now own the following Corvette related web sites:

CorvetteForum.com

LS1Tech.com

We wish Troy and Ryan the best, and thank them for helping the Corvette community stay informed since 1999.
